This week we are focusing on Step Seven: SHINEing. I’ve been reading books lately on longevity. It isn’t all about what you eat, and that’s why I love coming back to this step where we purposefully turn our focus outward to the people around us, rather than inward to our own goals only. This is the week when we remember our bigger priorities.
Being healthy is about embracing life. It’s about eating for health, not weight loss. It’s about belonging to a community and having a purpose – a contribution to make. It’s about putting family first – respecting those who walk beside you and honoring those who have gone before you. It’s about moving your body every day with activities that hold meaning – gardening, walking, exploring, chores. It is about learning how to slow down and enjoy fellowship with good friends and family for no reason except to be together – without agenda.
It’s about savoring every moment of life rather than looking to the future in a constant state of momentum.
Take a moment to savor your life today. You are alive, you live in a country where there are no limits to your personal freedom, and there are people who would love moments of your unhurried time today. Trust me – no one will benefit from these moments more than you.
Keep up the great work and have a great day,
