Did it really have to come to this before we figured out that the less we play with our food the better we’ll be? 60% of our population is obese. We spend billions (billions!) on health care for preventable (preventable!) diseases and the jury is out – the biggest cause is our lack of education (but more truthfully – discipline) when it comes to processed food. Let me help. Fast food is not good for you. I know what the commercials say – they’re lying. Foods that come in packages are usually not good for you. I know what the commercials say… In the end it comes back to this. If they won’t let you feed it to the bears at the zoo, it’s probably not good for you either. Mom was right. Eat your fruits and vegetables (or maybe that was Grandma – we’ve been in trouble for more than one generation).
So here’s a new assignment for you.
For one day this weekend (either Saturday or Sunday), I would like you to include fresh fruit or vegetables in every snack and meal and eat them first. If you are having a shake for breakfast, peel an orange on the side and eat it first. Eat your salad first at lunch. Eat your vegetables first at dinner. If you are having cheese or almonds as a snack in the afternoon, cut up some cucumber sticks or apple slices as well and eat them first.
If you’re on bootcamp, then you will be eating vegetables instead of fruit, but you can mix it up with peppers, mushrooms, eggplant, onions and of course anything green.
Why are we doing this? It’s been proven that filling up with high nutrient foods (vegetables and fruits especially) rather than high calorie foods (refined or starchy foods) is the only long-term solution to health and a healthy weight.
You are worth it!!! You can do it!
Have a great weekend!
