There are so many things in my life that feel like they are beyond my control. Things I wrestle with, struggle to understand, and fight against. We all have them. As we wrap up a week focused on starting the day right, I thought you might relate to something from my journal that came from a need to release stress in my life in the quietness of the morning – before my day began gaining momentum with an undertone of tension that would eat away at me. If it’s not your thing, don’t worry. I’ll be back on Monday without poetry. :o)
Sometimes
in the early morning
the sun peeks up over the horizon and
illuminates
the trees in my backyard
like the world’s best
modern art.
In the silence,
the first hopeful light of day
interprets
the tangle of birch branches
in a wild, illogical display
of asymmetry
– balanced perfectly.
It makes me breathe deeply,
reminding me
that in life – all things are not
ordered nor controlled
and yet
all things are
ordered and controlled.
Just not by
me.
Just not in my way.
Just not
in any way
that I
can understand.
And so in my quest for balance
between managing what is mine
to manage
and releasing what is
not,
today I will strive for
excellence.
And surrender to
peace.
Enjoy a healthy breakfast. That is yours to manage.
Have a great day,
Love Rae
