This is the week we focus on limiting our computer/television time in an effort to bring more balance back to our lives. I want to add something extra on this week as well….radio/music. I LOVE music. Really love it. But there are times when I realize that I jump from stimulus to stimulus (computer/phone/family/car radio/fitness class/visiting etc) and it may be days since I’ve had 20 minutes of actual quietness in my life. If you are a person who values the importance of prayer and/or meditation, you will understand the importance of silence. The answer you are seeking may not come to you in the 20 minutes YOU have allotted into YOUR day. It may come to you during a quiet moment at any time…if there is a quiet moment available.
I was thinking about this note (and the week’s focus) on Saturday morning and as I sat at my kitchen table with my morning coffee, I put away my journal and my book. I sat and listened to the sounds of the neighbourhood, the sounds of the kids playing downstairs, the sounds of the kitchen… I have to admit I didn’t have a single profound thought, but it felt really, really good to be in the moment without an agenda.
Enjoy some peace in your day today too,
Have a great one!
