As we head into Easter weekend, think about these 4 things:
1) As on all major family holidays, don’t panic about your eating plan. Make good choices with the goal of choosing foods that make you feel good, and the understanding that there are appropriate times for celebration. Forgo the candy, but enjoy your Easter meal, and Tuesday will find you ready to re-focus and none the worse for taking a day off to appreciate the good things in your life.
2) The computer/TV can wait. Unless you’re watching a movie as a social event with friends or family, don’t do it. Invest your precious time in bigger things this weekend.
3) Savor your moments. Last night I was watching my (just turned) 7-year-old sleeping. You know how that feels – they are so innocent, so small, so precious and I thought to myself “I need to love this child every day for who he is – not for who he is not or who he may be.” Love every person in your life this weekend for who they are – no comparisons, no judgments, no expectations.
4) It’s Spring! Give the gift of air to your body. Write it on your calendar now before you forget. Set aside at least 3 times between now and next Monday to move your body outside in the fresh air. It might be a walk in the sun or a walk in the rain. It might be a bike ride with the kids around the block. It might be checking out the yard and doing a little spring clean up. But give your body the gift of fresh air.
And P.S.: Remember the important things this weekend in your spare moments. Turn your eyes outward and upward and give thanks often for the incredible gifts you have received.
Have a beautiful weekend,
