…Unplug. Between my phone and my computer I find that there is almost never a time that I am unattached to the online world. In past lives there were precious spare moments where we used to catch our breath, maybe sit down with a cup of tea or a good book (even for just a few minutes), or perhaps take a minute to look out the window (or go outside!) and think about something. I find those moments are being squeezed out of our lives and instead we check our email, our texts, our facebook accounts.
There was an article on my homepage recently about a new kind of depression in teens. We aren’t surprised at all to learn that too much online socializing causes depression. 😦
My goal for this week is to unplug! (Yes, we’ve done this before many times as a group. :o) Instead of checking facebook 20 times a day, why not budget 10 minutes a day for online activity and then – get outta there and get moving! Instead of looking at your phone every 10 minutes, why not make your screen saver a big message that says “Look outside!!!” Notice the world around you. Enjoy a few minutes with a good book. Go outside and say hi to the neighbour who is doing yard work. Go for a walk around the block. Yes! For 5 minutes! Why not??? See who you see.
Who’s brave enough to take the challenge? I’d love it if you could let us know about one good thing that came out of your week. Can we hear from you next Monday?
Have an adventurous, exciting, movement filled week.
Love Rae
